Separated from Myself

Stagnant water fades a crumbled page

Poet tries to piece her words together

Feelings unseen or heard

Wading in a pool of shallow goldens

Open to the world, closed to your face

Holding the world that can’t be replaced

Being told you’re a girl

Acing a test; fighting each breath

Catching the nest; before it falls to the ground’s death

Silent triumph, blinded fate

Sitting to wait, unsure in debate

Golden views open the door to a wild new few

Never seen here before, calling out to the glimmer’d dew

Heroine of nothing, child of no place

A spirit ungirdled, a lady out of place

Held in arms, warmed by fire

Chilled by night, calling desire

When moonlight shines on the highest peak, take leave dear lady of this place

Find that which was once lost and sing these words at any cost

Heroine of nothing, child of no place

A spirit ungirdled, a lady out of place

Jack

I love when you smile because of the way it makes me feel
as though we are members of a secret pact hidden and sealed
I always remember the way your hair falls in your face
though you try to sweep it away in awkward attempts at grace
I never thought I could see these things
Until you came along with the laughter you bring
Always laughing
